Saturday ....

i am still trying to get a decent head shot.
You'd think this would be easy. after all, how is it to
try & take a picture of a Head ?
but you can see, the efforts haven't paid off yet.

and, in case you wondered,
the giant yet delicate flowers are still growing taller.

While i'm away,
my knitting companion will be staying at the home of
his curly white brother ....

And this is how Very Happy the knitting
companion will look while he's there.

In knitting news;
i think i'm going to take along my fleece artist
Thrum mitten kit ...

and you can bet i'll be wearing these
nice cosy socks ...

I'll be back in two weeks.
Happy knitting.

if i ever get packed or organized, ...

leaving for the northern isles of scotland this weekend.
so far i haven't organized anything for my trip, because i've been trying very hard to stay focused on getting my work done before i go. (that's not easy but it's important) I know this sounds lame, but staying focused on one thing is not an easy thing for some people.

i am planning to take some socks to work on ... and maybe some
fleece artist mittens to work on.

and i am bringing the book by the Yarn Harlot ....
and generously, i have just been loaned the book "the shop on Blossom street" (debbie macomber). Thank you to Cynthia.

here, you'll find a map of Shetland.
i always like maps so you can put things in perspective.

and here, you can have a look around.

here is a look at just some of the handiwork i'll be seeing ...

and,
here's a virtual visit to Orkney.

Friday, luscious august

"I shut my eyes in order to see."
Paul Gauguin

i'll leave you with this profound statement.
Happy friday.

blissed out fuzzy guy

To illustrate the knitting companion's love of yarn,
i give you the zen position
of one who has enjoyed a new skein of yarn:

notice how he's been holding the yarn.
he's now fallen into the Lull of Zen Snooze.

Link for the knitting chicks ...

I thought you might like to do a bit of cyber knitting travel.
here you can have a meetup (so to speak) with some

UK knitting chicks.

my web site should be ready by the end of the week.
WOW - this is exciting. The web Designer is brilliant & i can't wait!

tuesday in montreal ....

these flowers really look Happy, don't you think ?

and another look at the VERY tall, yet delicate flowers.

you'd never know it by looking at these tiny flowers, but they have been trying very hard to take over the whole garden.

The Knitting Companion

Here is the knitting companion. Since this blog is named with him in mind, i thought it was time he showed up for viewing.

this 70 pound curly guy loves yarn.
Not in a destructive way, however, he's very gentle.
His favourite yarns are mohair and wool ...

he likes to sit with me while i knit.
Loves being next to the wool.
He finds it very Zen.
from time to time, he likes to hold the yarn.
Or he imagines he is holding the yarn.
sometimes it's hard to tell.

In knitting news...

i have two pair of socks on the go.

Mountain Bearfoot ....
wool & mohair mix, hand dyed.
this yarn was a birthday present. it's beautifully soft.
Photos to follow. but not today.

Other sock in progress is a medium green/dark green Regia wool

the first sock of the green Regia is almost finished !
i worked on the toe decreasing last night. I'm doing the heel & toe in contrasting, striping regia yarn.
I'll be taking both of the sock projects with me to scotland. I will have a lot of layover time in airports over the next few weeks.

Garden colours

These enormously tall flowers have passed six feet high. In our garden, they come in shades of pink and purple. the bees are loving them.

And if you wonder where bees go to bed at night ...
not all of them make it home.
This one slept upside down last night, attached to this bright Yellow flower.
