happy friday ~ with a new bear

i'm still feeling Very under the weather.
It's even kept me from attending the fabby wednesday night knitting. Argh.

so here's the big scoop of the week:
a new brown bear.
this is the Knitting Companion's new toy. He adores it.
he loves it so much he chewed the nose off of the bear.
Which only makes the bear funny to look at, but not
less in fun-value.

The bear makes a funny growling sound when it moves.

here's the bear, in his resting position.

wooly progress

yesterday, the knitting companion & i spent time working on the
gift sock. they won't even fit me - so there's not a chance i can be
tempted to keep the socks !
this wool (dyed with Walnuts no less ! )
is divine to work with.

The knitting companion has a new teddy bear,
so he wasn't too interested in the wool for a change.

you might be wondering (or such) about the blanket seen below the sock.
my chum's grandma made it many years ago.
below, a heel in progress. I love this part of a sock.
instant Gratification. the rows go so quickly and i really feel like i'm making big progress at this stage. like it's not just a Tube anymore. it's really going to be a sock.

as i write this, montreal is having a light snowfall.

This is a Brilliant quotation.

Monday

Happy monday.

it's windy like crazy outside.
the wind is howling & dramatically having an exciting monday.

yesterday the knitting companion & i got to work on sock knitting.
for a Christmas gift.
(are you blown away ? you should be. i am)
i thought the knit along would be a good idea to get me going.
so far it's working.

Gift Knitting:
i think it's prudent to choose your giftees wisely.
i wouldn't make something
that took tons of time (for me, that's socks)
for someone who wouldn't be over the moon about it.
If i'm going to invest time and money i want it to be
something that is really going to be appreciated.

happy knitting.

Knit along

i just found
this knit along on the Blue Blog, and realized
that it could be just what i need to give me a
push to actually make some holiday gifts.
Or, in my case: Christmas presents.
No doubt i'm the only female human who
has not given a thought to this area.
After all, Christmas comes at the same time every year.
And there are gifts to be found. or made.
So, thanks to Alison at the blue blog.

and i'd better get thinking about pressies.

in non-gift knitting news: my canadian colour socks (regia yarn) are coming along - i'm on the second sock and i can't wait to wear them.
Ah, yes. this is part of why no one else is getting pressies.
i'm the one dying for more socks. Ah yes, i see a trend here.

in non-active knitting news:
i have a rotten, nasty cold.
i have been sleeping for most of the past 2 days.
(and now, on a less gross topic:)

i have been wanting the moon "status" on my blog forever.
i first saw it on Miss D's blog.

Alas, my moon phase is stuck at the very top of my side bar.
Rudely laying over TOP of other things.
i've tried to fix it at least six times.
still can't see what the problem is.

i've resorted to removing the moon.
