Friday the fifteenth

"No artist is pleased.
There is only a
queer divine dissatisfaction,
a blessed unrest
that keeps us marching
and makes us more
alive than the others."

(Martha Graham)

Today is my brother's birthday.
Happy birthday, Richard.

words of wisdom

Life was meant to be lived,
and curiosity must be kept alive.
One must never, for whatever reason,
turn his back on life.

Rowan in the mail

The Rowan Magazine number 40
has arrived here in Montreal.
There are some lovely things to be made
in this book.
I'm planning on some fingerless gloves
to be made this autumn.
Not yet though. Later.

it will direct your life and you
will call it fate."

Monday

i think this jar
with the blue circles is the cutest ever.
It's functional, cheerful & happy looking.

Below,
is a new coffee bowl.
Not part of a set.
a flying-solo coffee bowl.
Made by a local artisan.

And Wanietta: Thanks for all
the Denim tips. You're terrific.

Wedding-watching
was the spectator sport of the hour,
for people of all ages.
Who knew so many people were having a
wedding yesterday ?

There were how many ?

We saw seven different weddings
in the space of an hour.
I kid you not.
Not all one wedding; seven different
Occasions of honour.
Fancy dresses, fancy cars and fancy backgrounds.

Old cars, big cars, new cars.
There was even a horse and buggy event.
There were so many that we started to take photos
of them because of the sheer number of brides
and fancy dresses.

Vieux port, Montreal

Yesterday, when the rain gave up,
i spent some time in the Old City of Montreal.
We visited the Basilica of Notre Dame (basilique de Notre Dame),
saw the monuments and many sights.
There are some wonderful things
to do and to see, at any time of the year
in the Old City/vieux port.

We got a lot more
than we bargained for.
I'll show details in the next post.
