knit related update

a little response especially
For Helen C,
from the comments:

My Unknit and re-knit purple/mauve/lilac
hat (that appeared in the blog this week)
is being made with "chai Silk", which is
a goldenTussah silk. i am using 4.mm
bamboo needles for the hat.
The silk is so lovely to knit with.

it comes from Artfibers in the USA. (i always
want to write "fibres", as the US.
spells it differently).

conference in denver ....

I have a plane ticket.

things that arrive in the mail

Recently, i received a package that
had been "vacuum packaged"
in order to fit nicely into an envelope.
Have a look at the contents:

and in a very short time,
it grew back into its original size and shape.
It's Opal's cotton blend yarn.
to be turned into socks. (pour moi).

pouff, pouff, it's growing....

lush august

The Knitting Companion and i have been
enjoying the
summery garden views.
The yellow flowers
you see in the (above) photo
to the right are taller
than i am.

and here, below,
is some
lovely silk i've been knitting up.

Eventually, this will be a hat.

In spite of my careful
swatch-making,
and mathematics,
(checked & double checked)
my attempt did not work out as planned.

so i've Un-knit the hat. *sigh*

It was 17 cm of knitting (as seen below)

and it was by far, Too Big for my head.

So, i've started again. I'll take
a photo of the new endeavour when
it looks different than the
floppy knitting you see here.

Received a new box of tea last
week, one
that i'd never tried before.
It's lovely.

actual kniting content

There has been a bit

of knitting-in-progress...
a pair of socks made
with Lorna's Laces
"Shepherd sock".
Tiny stitches.
this is the second sock
on the needles.

It's been quite hot
in Montreal.
The Knitting Companion

is sporting his summer haircut.
His favourite summer sport
is laying in front of a fan.

summer time socks ... Actual Knitting content

yes, we have lots of days in
Montreal when it's too hot to contemplate socks.

But for those times when
your ankles want a bit of protection
from mosquitoes ... or rain, or a summer breeze,
here are a lovely soft pair of summery cotton-blend socks.
So soft.
