Montreal in February

Sometimes, when you hear about weather
conditions in another part of the world, you
just cannot imagine how it would be.
Today you can imagine you're here
with us in Montreal.
Click Here for a link to some fun Montreal Web cams.

These photos were taken this week.
The Knitting Companion and i were enjoying
a few hours of Balmy weather.

This year, the Knitting Companion
has his first winter coat. it's a lined Wool
jacket. He enjoys wearing it very much.
We had more snow last night, and expect
more tonight.
Bring your mittens for your visit !

Ode to linen, visual version

mmm.
Doesn't this make you want to
pink up this big fat hank of Linen ?

Hopefully, soon,
these skeins of Linen will start to become
something else.

hello from
a linen towel
that i knit last year.
I loved the drape of this fabric.

I'm looking forward to
others, in the future.

making Linen

Linen.

I love the look, feel and
drape of Linen. Have you ever
learned of how it's made?
I was astounded when i first
learned of the processes
and work that goes into linen.

Here is a beautifully made video on Linen.
I hope you take a look at this production...

Sunny, snowy, lovely views

I love the Lacey look
of the snow sitting amongst
the vines on this wall.

Here are the
local sculptures,
on a sunny snowy day.
Aren't the long shadows
magnificent?

loving this idea

A Million Little Pictures: Photomobile

Have a look at the site for the Art House Co-op.
Their photo project, called
"A Million Little Pictures"

will be a travelling exhibition of photographs.
I will be submitting my entries this Spring.
This sounds like a fun and engaging project.
Easy for people to learn about online - and
fun for people to visit as the Exhibition travels about.
Extra fun if your friends in Faraway places
get to see your work.

Because i can share this . . .

Love this so much.
Yes, you may have noticed
it here before.
Today is a special day
and i'm using that ticket to replay this
very fun Muppet video.

Enjoy.

yes yes yes

Robert Henri had it right:

"All education
must be self-education."

Cotton . . . in progress

For quite a long time, i've been
working on a "log cabin style"
blanket. While i certainly
haven't been working on
it steadily every week,
this project

is always on my mind.
My plan is to complete
the blanket in the near future.

It's being knit with Rowan's
"Denim" cotton. It
has a lovely soft feel and a wonderful
practical weight.
Not only that, but it washes up
marvellously. That's an important
step when working with the "denim"
as it shrinks in length after washing.
A step that you must take care to
do before moving on to knit the next panel.

i really love this blanket.
(and i Love Tulips too.)

wisdom

"In preparing a picture,
it seems to me very important to
begin by an indication of the
darkest values--and to
continue in order to the lightest value.
From the darkest to the lightest
I would establish twenty shades."

(Camille Corot)
