i received some lovely new bedsheets.
they're called Pisolo, or "the 50 year wash".
the idea is that they're so soft, they feel
like they've been washed for fifty years.

I'm going to knit a sock with my
new skein of
Sincere Sheep yarn.

It's a lovely skein of hand dyed, silk and
superwash wool.
My plan is to knit this into a long, cozy cowl.

i love this cup.
Great for holding tea.
It keeps the tea hot for a long time.
that's a handy feature. However, it
stains so easily and it's not easy to keep
white & shiny.

very slowly -
i'm knitting a pair of socks
on 3.00 mm "glove" needles.
Lovely, small, rosewood needles.
The progress is coming
along very slowly,
since i always have several
projects on the go.
As a matter of fact, i should be working
on a book right now - and i'm procrastinating.

I digress. Jordi asked about the socks in the
earlier post.
The completed socks are Zauberball yarn.
A sturdy, German six ply, superwash wool.
This fabulous yarn was
a gift last year and knit up
to make fabulous socks.

The brown/orange/grey socks
that are still on the
needles - shown above- are also Zauberball wool.
this time a 2 ply. A looser ply than the
other Zauberball wools i have used.
There is no colourway marked on the labels.
Very long colourways. I believe it wouldn't
be possible to make both socks the same if
that was your desire.

In the meantime, i'm at a very very dark
brown section of yarn. It's almost black.
It seems that it's high time for me to buy
some "task lighting" so that i can see what
i'm doing. As it is, i'm struggling to see my stitches.
Not good.

these socks were a labour of love to knit.
they're superwash wool and
so comfortable to wear. However, the
yarn was extremely perfumey to knit with.
Overly sweet, like strawberry perfume.
Perfume, but not in a good way. The
outcome was marvellous - no lingering
strawberry smell and the cables are
so comfortable.

Better late than never

Just a few days before
Christmas, I started
knitting a gift for a special friend.

Then there were some delays. Of
course, that's what happens when
you start something at the last minute.
Because it was such a small project, I
thought it would be done for New Year's day.

That didn't work out.

Yesterday morning, i finished off my little project.
It was dark in the house, despite the time of day.
I sewed in the ends of my darkly coloured project.
Twenty minutes later, it dawned on me that
i had better check the finishings - it was SO dark
in the house - could i really see what i had been doing?

Well, no,
apparently not.

I will re-do my finishings now.

*sigh*

Maybe i should buy a good light
for my knitting-spot?
I think it's time.

I received a gorgeous,
silky soft skein of

yarn for Christmas.

It was so tempting,

I had to cast on right away.

I've been knitting on this and that for the past

It's been a beautiful, chilly end-of Autumn day.

Last night, i finished construction
of a pink, knitted Christmas gift.

on my list of things to do is approaching
completion.

it's time to make supper.

This was one of the dessert choices
at the restaurant, Joe Beef one Thursday night
in October.

I can assure you that this photograph
has not been spruced up or altered in any way.
The donuts are
sliced in half and made into a donut-sandwich
with apple-cinnamon ice cream.

I was very curious to see what this would be like.

last week i made pancakes.
That's nothing new.
I've been making pancakes for .... years.
I've never been a fan of teeny weeny pancakes.
I think dainty-sized pancakes
are good fare for Elves but not for humans.
I like a pancake that fills a pan. Why
eat 8 pancakes when you really want to eat
one Large pancake?

Here is the photo of my Giganto pancake - it certainly
gained height while it was in the pan. Photo was
made with the pancake on a full sized cake rack.
And yes, i ate it all.

A pancake is good solid food, fun
to eat and an excellent
vehicle for delicious Maple Syrup.

Maple syrup is
full of antioxidants.
There's another reason to have
pancakes any time of the day.

She was a joyous sight to behold.

Then her mother insisted it was time to go home.
New-Shoe-Girl is seven years old.

we have been testing brownie recipies
and we're back to making pasta.
Since it's no longer Sweltering and
Steamy in our kitchen i don't faint from the
heat when i stand near the stove.

The poodle and i are both quite pleased about this
end-of-summer weather.
